Late Diagnosis: a Personalized Invitation to Decolonialism

  • This guided study experience will help you name your design thinking skills and begin putting those skills to work in organized ways.

This learning experience is structured to deliver certain outcomes but flexible enough to offer you personalized learning. My conversations about learning often begin with Bloom’s Taxonomy - .https://us.utah.edu/learning-outcomes-assessment/blooms-taxonomy.php .

Divergent by Design is a one-to-one independent study with me, Dr Kimberly Douglass. I have over 21 years of experience in adult learning. I believe the most effective adult learning experiences are student-centered and relationship-based. I want to know what you are interested in feeling and imagining, as much as I want to know what you are interested in thinking and doing.

  • This program is a great starting place for people who feel stuck or lost in their education, their career or in life generally. It is also great for people who feel they have a million "unuseful" ideas. I want to help you begin designing a new reality in which your knowledge and skills are valued.

You can use what you learn here to affect many areas of life or a particular area of life. You can use the knowledge and skills you gain in this experience:

    • To prepare you for an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university.

    • To enhance your experience in the workplace or in career development

    • To provide yourself or others creative accommodations

    • To improve quality of life inside your home

    • To pursue a creative outlet

  • This experience takes place over two to four sessions: week 1 co-creation session, week 2 co-creation session, week 3 co-creation session, week 4 co-creation session.

Our interactions during these sessions will be guided by the following five learning outcomes. Upon completion of this program, you should be able to:

    1. Develop a model that shows how your design thinking works

    2. Describe a toolkit (plan) for what you want to do next with design thinking

    3. Identify learning strategies that work best for you

    4. Identify information sources you will consult in the future to support your design thining journey

    5. Identify services that will help you continue your design thinking journey

  • Program Rate (effective until December 31, 2024)
